Week 8

                                                                        December 15, 2014

Is this the language I learned in the MTC?

 Hola Familia y amigos!!!

First, I would like to apologize for the grumpiness of my email last week... My whole first week here I was sick and whenever I looked at the computer I felt like I was going to be sick... I didn`t tell you guys because I knew you`d worry that I had some incurable disease, haha. But all is well now! I just had to get used to the food of Uruguay! (which turns out to be pasta, pasta, pasta...)

So this week was pretty awesome!! Thank you everyone for your prayers!! It`s truly a miracle, now I can walk out in the heat and show up less sweaty than I did in the beginning of my time here, haha, I`m making progress :) It helps immensely with my ability to focus.

This week we got to travel back to the capital and go to the temple! We got to spend the night in the mission home since our area is so far away.  I did the temple work for Mildred Vanbeers, and it was such a spiritual experience!! It was amazing.  Afterwards, we went to the mission home and celebrated a little Christmas with the mission president and his wife.  It was the sweetest thing in the world.  We sang Christmas songs in Spanish, and then we each received stockings full of treats that we aren`t allowed to open until Christmas! I was so touched.  Before I left, Hermana Smith told me that I had made an impact on her family when I arrived here.  I couldn`t believe it! I was even more deeply touched at that comment... I hope I can impact even more people here in Uruguay, even though my Spanish definitely could use some more work, haha.

This week we met this brother and sister for the first time.  They let us come in and share a brief message about the birth of Christ. And oh my goodness, It was just like a few scriptures in Amos (I`m pretty sure); you could see in their eyes that they had been missing something for a long time, and our message was exactly what they needed.  They listened to us so intently... I was so amazed.  I left their house feeling so joyful!

Haha, In regards to the title of this email (I`m pretty sure it`s a quote from the Best Two Years or something), my Spanish is improving, but I`ve learned that Uruguay has different words than other Spanish speaking countries for Shirt, Skirt, Sneakers, and Strawberries. ¡Qùe Raro! No? (Que Raro means How Strange!)

 Ciao Familia!

Another MTC picture with their teach Abad.

We had to send Paige a usb converter for her sd card,  so that the pictures she takes in Uruguay can be uploaded to the computers there. So we are patiently waiting to get new pictures!

*Fun Fact: Santa Claus in Uruguay is called Papa Noel
