Week 31

                                                                                                                             June 1st, 2015

You Won`t Believe It!

So this week was amazing because I realized that I`m beginning to change for the better!

This week we had an amazing lesson with one of the families in the branch, the Suarez family. Julio, who recently got baptized came with us! As we were starting the lesson, one of the older children who isn`t a member, Andreas, came in with his little son, Dylan. We started talking to him and we asked him what he wanted for his son`s future, and if he was showing his son the example of what he wanted his son to be. He said no because he has a smoking problem. He got a little emotional and committed to stop smoking for his son. It was really amazing! We`re going to keep visiting him to help him out even more.

So this is what you won`t believe--this Sunday the branch President Ayala asked me to give a talk. He mentioned it to me briefly last week, asking me just to introduce myself. I figured he just wanted me to talk for a few minutes, but on Sunday right before we started he said he wanted me to talk for 10 minutes! In the past, I would have gotten really nervous, but yesterday I was able to walk up to the pulpit and share a 10 minute message without getting nervous! Also, Ì`ll be singing a solo in the branch choir when we perform. (Thanks to Hermana Olson for giving me a little voice training). Something I never would have done before the mission!

After church we had a lesson with two of the young adults in our branch who are really indecisive about what they want to do with their lives. We talked to them and helped them set goals to better their selves and become more autosufficient (is that a word in English?). It was an amazing lesson because the Spirit was so strong. It truly is important to have mortal and eternal goals.

Something that really impacted me in my studies recently is JOY. A lot of people in this world are looking for happiness, but I think we can shoot a little higher than that. We know thanks to Nephi that we exist as humans in order to have joy, and joy only comes as a result of righteousness and obedience. So seek to be righteous, and obedient to what our Father in Heaven has commanded us to do, and we will be filled with Joy!

Love,
