A Year Of Experiences
Dear Everyone,
So we`ve had another week of
experiences! I`m so grateful to be able to recognize a small miracle of
the Lord every day here in Uruguay!
This week
we were sent by surprise down to Montevideo so that I could do the
papers to be able to have a Uruguayan Citizenship (I think that`s how
you translate cèdula). We live in the department farthest away from the capital so we spent 17 hours in the bus on Tuesday. That was definitely
an experience! Not to mention that now in a few weeks I`ll be Uruguayan!
One
of the bests experiences that we`ve had this week is that we`ve been
working with the family Nuñez, but they haven`t really been progressing.
They are inactive members and they don`t really take our visits really
seriously, so we decided to stop visiting them. But we had an
appointment set up already so we went the other day. The family was
sleeping but Camila, the 13 year old daughter came out and she let us
talk with her while she sat on top of her car (which was a miracle
because she never wants to listen and always avoids us!) so we talked
with her about the pamphlet on the Strength for Youth. Afterwards we
asked her if she could say the prayer and she said she didn`t know how
because she had never prayed. She was really embarrassed, but she said
her first prayer with us and it was so sweet. I know that the Lord
touched her heart.
We`ve also been working with
Aly and Antonio and they are amazing! Aly has decided to be baptized
and Antonio is reactivating! The other day we felt we should call
Antonio to teach a lesson with another Investigator, Lulo, and it was
great! Antonio used to leave with the missionaries a lot when he was a
teenager and he even served as a part time missionary about 8 times. His
testimony was really helpful in the lesson and at the end he asked Lulo
how he could help him come to church and offered to come pick him up on
is motorcycle before church. I was amazed!
I`m
so incredibly grateful for this past year I`ve been able to have here
in the mission, but I think I`m even more grateful that I still have six
more months to keep seeing the Lord`s miracles. Something that really
touched my heart this week was when I understood a little bit more just
how much our Heavenly Father loves us. He loves us so much that he cries
for us. Moses 7:28-29 and 32-33. He cries because He has given us
Everything. He has given us the power to choose between good and evil
and He is devastated when we choose to separate ourselves from Him. But I
know that he is joyous when we choose to come back.
I love you all and thank you for supporting me this past year. I hope you enjoy the photos of our long trip to Montevideo....
