The Week of Oros!
Hello!
This week was a great week, I learned a lot!
This week we did divisions and my companion went to Montevideo for one
day so two days this week I worked with some brand new missionaries (we
call them Oros here, or "Golds") One of them from the United States and
the other from Brazil!
My experience with the
Brazilian Oro (H
ermana Beloni) was especially great! We were here in my
area in Artigas because her area is in Brazil, and I would have had to
give lessons in Portuguese (which I don´t Completely understand quite
yet). I don´t know my area really well yet and all of our appointments
fell through so went spent the hot afternoon contacting! It was tough
but we enjoyed every minute of it! She taught me a little bit of Portuguese and I helped her with her Spanish. We visited one of our
investigators, Lulo, with her and she gave a really powerful testimony
about the Sabbath day and obedience to the commandments. She is a recent
convert but she has incredible faith that she knows that when the Lord
says we must do something, we just need to do it and trust that he can
take care of us. Her testimony affected Lulo so much that almost a week
later we talked to him and he said that her testimony really helped him
and that he wants to work on stop working in his business on Sundays!
Hopefully we´ll see some progress with him! I know that a person´s
testimony can truly help others--but only when we share it!
This
week the sisters in one of the other wards here had to sing in the
primary program, and her companion was embarrassed to sing in front of
everyone, so Hermana Jenkins and I sang in front of everyone. It was fun
but we didn´t practice it very much so I got a little nervous and sung
pretty quietly. It was a neat little duet though!
Recently
I was studying about courage. In these days we really need to have
courage to stand up for what we believe--our standards, our boundaries,
and our determination to follow Christ. I love the example of the youth
in Alma 53:20. They were courageous because they had been obedient, and
when we obey we begin to trust in the Lord enough to always do what he
says. Have courage and be righteous! It´s the path to happiness.
I love you all and you are all huge examples to me! Thanks for all the birthday letters I received!
Hermana Autery
(A member (Susana Medina) taking care of me when I had to rest my ankle---it´s better now so no worries!!)
Paige apparently sprained her ankle, when she fell, and then they gave her an anti-inflammatory that she had an allergic reaction to. So she had to go to the hospital. But she only tells me after the fact and says "But Im ok now, Mom"
