A Visit from Elder Bednar (He came to our mission!)
Hello Everyone!
This week was incredible! It was a
little bit crazy due to the meetings we had, but it was incredibly
uplifting to be able to hear words from a living prophet. On Wednesday
we were able to listen to a broadcast from him in Buenos Aires,
Argentina, and then on Friday
he came to Uruguay to talk to us in person! It was incredible. I wanted
to take this time to share a little bit of the wonderful things that I
learned through him and the spirit during the time we could be in those
conferences. He gave us the opportunity to ask questions and his answers
were incredibly inspired that they answered even more questions.
We asked Elder Bednar what he does to prepare for a conference such as the one that was held on Friday.
He explained to us that the preparation doesn´t begin a month, a week,
or even a day before, but throughout your entire life. D&C 84:85
Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up
in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you
in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man.
You
don´t just prepare yourself to be on a spiritual high in order to give a
talk and then return to a lower spiritual level afterwards, otherwise
life would be a series of ups and downs. Instead, the preparation is a
constant process, little by little. 2 Nephi 28:30 For behold, thus
saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line,
precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are
those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel,
for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give
more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be
taken away even that which they have.
We
are promised that if we do this, the portion that is needful will be
given to us in the right moment because the Spirit can bring all things
to our remembrance. John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send
in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. But the Spirit will
have nothing to bring to us if we haven´t treasured up the word and
studied every day. We will be "empty vessels."
In order to receive this promise we must act and not be acted upon. We
must act upon the scriptures and not have them act upon us. We can do
this by studying a specific question that we have and truly asking,
seeking and knocking. 3 Nephi 14:4-8
7 Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
8 For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.
I
invite you all to start and continue your preparation today! I love you
all so much and am so grateful for your support. Until Next week!
Remember that it will be Tuesday!
