Meeting Elder Oaks Again from Another Side of the World

Hola Familia y Amigos,

This Tuesday we had the wonderful opportunity to wake up in the madrugada(early morning)to meet in Montevideo to have a mission conference, and then unite the two missions in Uruguay so listen to Elder Oaks and Elder Viñas. It was amazing! Elder Oaks came to Oregon a little before I left home, and then again at the conference he had all 500 missionaries come to be able to shake his hand! As I approached him, he said, "Hello, Sister Autery" and I was in a little bit of shock after that! Partly because nobody has said my name right for five months, haha. He gave an amazing talk about how we all need to strive to be instruments in the hands of the Lord, and how we can do that through obedience and listening to the Spirit, and repenting all the time! Because we always make mistakes, but we can improve little by little everyday. It was an incredible spiritual boost to be united with so many missionaries and receive so much guidance for our areas that we work in. Also, my mission president told Hermana Olson and I that we look like sisters now! Haha, I love my companion so much.

This week we had a ward activity where we showed the movie, Meet the Mormons. We invited the whole city, and quite a few people came, but unfortunately not all the people we were hoping. But there will be more activities! This week one of our investigators accepted the invitation to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized! I´m so happy for her! She´s going to be in Montevideo now for a little while to have some surgery done. We were also going to take another investigator to the second showing of the movie in the other ward, but it ended up last minute that she couldn´t come. But she wrote us a really sweet apology note.

This work is amazing! And it´s truly the Lord´s work! Sometimes I feel like I don´t explain things very well, but I´m learning that even though I need to strive to be as clear as possible, it´s really the Spirit that teaches people. And I´ve seen that in the people´s faces here, and it´s truly a miracle. The Lord is hastening His work! It´s a battle out here for good, but the missionaries aren´t the only warriors! Everyone who has come to Christ has a light to share with the World. Keep spreading it!
