Language Barriers--The Lord Gathering His People
Family and Friends,
Well if I don`t have a miracle to share this week! Juan Lacaze is the best!
So
this week Hermana Short and I have been talking with Everybody and
sharing the message of the restoration. Also, recently we`ve been able
to work in the elder`s area which is a half hour walk, but we`ve seen so
much progress since we started doing it! At the beginning of the week
we saw a bunch of sheep in a soccer field on the way to the elders area.
I thought it was just environmentally friendly lawn mowing, but we
decided to talk to the man who was close to the gate. He didn`t really
understand us at first, but we`re sort of used to that every once in a
while because we`re two American sisters. But then he started talking to
his son and it sounded really weird. As it turned out they are from Syria and they were speaking Arabic! And the man invited us over the
next day!
So the next day we went over to their house and
he and his family of 17 gave us this huge welcome! They`ve been here for
8 months in Uruguay, they`re refugees from Syria and I just love them
so much! We weren`t able to teach very much because they are still
learning Spanish, so we have to speak really simply.
A
miracle happened when we called to ask the office elders for a Book of
Mormon in Arabic! The mission president wasn`t feeling well so he had
his secretaries drive him to a conference. The secretaries decided to
sleep with the zone leaders instead of in the hotel with president, and
for the One night they did that, we called them and it just so happened
that the zone leader had found an Arabic Book of Mormon that he found a
few months ago. It was amazing! Otherwise it would have taken six weeks
to get one! We`ll get it it a few weeks now.
This whole
experience is just another sign to me that the Lord is hastening His
work and that the second coming is closer than ever. The church isn`t in Syria right now, so the Lord is spreading out His people to be able to receive the Gospel. Sometimes we just can`t understand How the Lord is
going to fulfill His promises, we just have to trust in Him. Alma 7:8
I love you all!
Hermana Autery
Meet my Syrian family!! (not all of them were there.)
