Mis Amados Hermanos,
We received our transfers this Sunday and yes, after four and a half
months, I`m leaving Juan Lacaze. I`m sad because I`ve loved it here so
much! But I`m so excited to go to a new area and meet new people and do
the Lord`s work! I`m going all the way to the highest part of Uruguay,
in Artigas! I`m going to be the senior companion with Hermana
Salvatierra from Peru. I met her when I was in Fray Bentos, and I`m
excited to be her companion! The only thing I`m worried about is that
I`m going up there for the spring-summer and the running joke in Uruguay
is that Artigas is in between the Earth and the Sun. (In other words,
it`s killer hot) But I know that the Lord works miracles!
This
week was great! Thanks to an idea that went out in our mission
newspaper, this week we decided to go out to one of the plazas in our
area with a table full of missionary materials. The sisters from the
other area, Nueva Helvecia, came to help us, as well as the elders and
two more from Valdense. It was great! We did divisions with the sisters
to contact more people, and then within our divisions we did divisions
with some of the members. It was a great missionary experience for them,
and we were able to receive a lot of references! One of the members,
Alba, handed out a book of Mormon to a man on a bench and told him "This
book changed my life, and I know it will change yours too." What
courage! She is an example to me.
This morning I was
studying Alma 10:2 and it was talking about the law. According to
justice, a consequence must always be paid for anything that goes
against the law. All debts must be paid. But I was mediating and I love
remembering that even though we break God`s laws, Christ is always
willing to pay the debt if we come to Him. So go to him, and be free.
